Marko made a reference to Perez’s heritage, describing it as “South American,” while drawing a comparison between him and Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. He implied that Perez lacked the same level of concentration as the team’s two world champions.
Marko stated that he is not as mentally focused as Max or Sebastian, being a South American.
The remarks created a buzz on various social media platforms, particularly in Perez’s home country of Mexico situated in the North American continent.
Marko had previously apologized publicly for his remarks on Red Bull’s ServusTV channel following the Italian GP. However, Perez stated before the Singapore GP that they had also held a private meeting.
Perez stated that she had a personal discussion with him, where he expressed his apologies, which she considered to be the most important aspect.
“And yes, essentially, we continue forward. I have a personal connection with him. And I believe it is natural to experience such emotions when witnessing such things.”
Having knowledge about the person is beneficial as it assures me that he did not intend it in a negative manner. I accepted his apology because our personal relationship with Helmut assures me that his intentions were not malicious.

After the race, there was a conversation between Helmut Marko, a consultant at Red Bull Racing, and Sergio Perez, who currently races for Red Bull Racing and finished in 2nd place.

Perez maintained that he did not take offense to Marko’s remarks, indicating that they were misunderstood.
“I have to be completely honest, but no,” he replied. “I have a personal connection with Helmut, so I know that he doesn’t intend it in that manner.”
“I was not personally offended by the comments. If they had come from a different perspective, I might have had a different reaction.”
“However, I perceive it as the natural order of things, and I did not consider it as a personal matter.”
He stated: “The things I or he say to the media are not reflective of our actual conversations. Despite this, we have a positive relationship that is unrelated to that aspect.”
As I mentioned before, Helmut, I did apologize. I believe everyone makes mistakes. The most significant aspect to me was receiving his personal apology.
“I cannot reword”
“We will consistently engage in conversations regarding both relevant and irrelevant topics. We frequently meet up on a regular basis.”
“He will express his thoughts. One aspect we can admire about Helmut is his transparency, not only with the media and the world in general, but also with the drivers. That’s just his nature.”
