Red Bull celebrated its 100th F1 world championship race win with Max Verstappen’s victory in the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix – an achievement only four other teams (Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Mercedes) have scored in the competition’s 73-year history.
Red Bull has become the fastest Formula 1 team to reach 100 wins, accomplishing this in just 14 years since Sebastian Vettel’s victory in the 2009 Chinese GP alongside his teammate Webber. Williams holds the second position, taking 18 years from 1979 to 1997 to achieve the same milestone of 100 wins.
Red Bull, McLaren, and Williams have all been teams supported by manufacturers at different points in their past. However, starting from 2026, Red Bull plans to collaborate with Ford to manufacture their own engines.
However, especially in the initial years of its 18-year presence in F1, Red Bull faced difficulties in dispelling the perception of being merely a “party team.” This was due to its ownership by an energy drink company known for its bold marketing campaigns and events.
This has changed massively since Red Bull began winning in 2009 – one season after Vettel won for its junior team, then called Toro Rosso at the 2008 Italian GP – and particularly since its decision to hire Adrian Newey from 2006 led to a dominant run to four championships in four years from 2010-2013, a position it has now returned too with Max Verstappen leading the team.
Webber reckons Red Bull’s tale is “one of the great success stories of Formula 1 – has to be”.

“Because, in essence, it’s still a team made of tremendous individuals and people that have done a great job to engineer beautiful Formula 1 cars for world championships with constructors’ and drivers’ [titles], and to be dominant in many ways.
“I believe their capability to achieve that has been a remarkable success story.”
“They have demonstrated their commitment to the sport through their investment in staff, infrastructure at Milton Keynes, and other contributions.”
“The level of dedication they demonstrate, both from their employees and the individuals involved in the sport, is truly remarkable. I won’t go as far as saying it’s unparalleled, but it’s definitely impressive.”
We have experienced a significant amount of individuals joining and leaving.
