Gragson’s contract was terminated at his own request, according to the team.

On the 5th of August, the newcomer to the NASCAR Cup Series received an indefinite suspension from LMC, and subsequently from NASCAR too.

This was in response to an Instagram post that Gragson liked, which appeared to mock the 2020 murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.

The individual, who is 25 years old, promptly expressed remorse for his behavior by sharing the subsequent message: “I am dissatisfied with my own behavior on social media due to my lack of attentiveness and actions. I fully comprehend the seriousness of this situation. I hold affection and gratitude for everyone. I strive to treat all individuals fairly, regardless of their identity. I made a mistake, plain and simple.”

Gragson achieved 13 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and finished as the runner-up in the 2022 championship before transitioning to LMC for his inaugural full-time Cup season. However, 2023 proved to be challenging for the young driver, as he only managed two top-20 finishes with his highest placement being 12th.

He had already skipped a race due to concussion-like symptoms caused by a crash at Gateway before his suspension.

Gragson to follow NASCAR’s reinstatement process

On Thursday, Gragson issued a statement expressing his intention to undergo the reinstatement procedure and make a comeback to NASCAR in the future.

I have requested Legacy Motor Club to terminate my contract in order for me to dedicate time towards completing the NASCAR reinstatement procedure. I have a strong passion for racing and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to compete for victories at the top tier of NASCAR. Above all, I aim to regain the pride and support of my family, team, and fans.

Cal Wells III, the newly appointed CEO of the team, expressed, “Noah possesses immense skill and a wonderful character. Although this is a challenging circumstance, we are pleased that Noah has acknowledged his responsibility for his actions. We have faith that he will navigate through this procedure alongside NASCAR and return even more resilient.”

LMC Racing Team assigned Josh Berry to drive the No. 42 Chevrolet during the recent Michigan race, and they have also secured Mike Rockenfeller’s participation for the upcoming two road course races.
