Truex seemed invincible during the 200-lap race. At a certain moment, he overtook almost twelve cars using a different strategy and snatched the Stage 2 victory from Daniel Suarez just as they crossed the finish line.
He successfully caught up to Chris Buescher during the last round of pitstops, but found it extremely challenging to overtake the No. 17 RFK Racing Ford.
Truex pulled up next to Buescher when there were only ten laps left, but he almost lost control when entering the corner. He swiftly made up for the lost time, but once again, he couldn’t figure out how to pass the leader of the race.
“I believe we required a slightly extended period of driving to further wear down the tires,” he expressed after the race. “I sense that we had a slight advantage. It is challenging to overtake the frontrunner when our tires are equally worn.”
Today, our car was truly extraordinary. I commend all those who dedicated their efforts to its development. It performed exceptionally well, like a high-speed projectile. Surpassing the leading car, which had minimal air resistance, proved to be an arduous task. Unfortunately, we fell just short. Nonetheless, it was a satisfactory day overall.

Despite not securing a victory in Michigan, he strengthens his position as the leader in the regular season points rankings. The experienced racer recently announced his return in 2024 to pilot the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota once more.
The 43-year-old has been in excellent shape throughout the summer and does not appear to be losing any momentum.
“We’re excited. Every week we feel like we have a shot to win. That’s all I can ask for. Exciting coming to the track every weekend knowing what these guys are going to bring me.
“I hope we can continue performing well. It would have been great to secure a victory today, but overall it was a positive day. The strategy unsettled us a bit, but fortunately, we managed to regain our position throughout the day thanks to our speed.”
This particular situation is quite unpleasant. It is challenging to achieve a victory in this place. We have previously performed exceptionally well, but unfortunately, we are unable to accomplish our goal. Perhaps, in the future, things will improve.
