The Silverstone-based squad started the 2023 campaign as Red Bull’s main rival, but has faced some recent struggles that dropped it back into the chasing pack behind F1’s most dominant team.
Team principal Mike Krack stated prior to the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend that the team’s decline in performance was a result of alterations in the car’s characteristics, referred to as “side effects,” which were brought about by recent advancements.
Fernando Alonso felt that the AMR23 was back to its usual state and showed signs of improvement at the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend, resulting in a fifth-place finish.
Krack is optimistic about the team’s potential for improvement and believes that new components, including those in the Netherlands, will contribute to a better performance during the second half of the campaign.
When questioned about the timing of upgrades for the rest of the campaign, he responded by saying, “Every race will have upgrades, and if you examine the list of upgrades for Zandvoort, you will find some interesting information.”
Aston Martin’s competitors are shifting their attention to their 2024 vehicles, but Krack affirms its commitment to persist with its existing contender.
“We have no intention of turning off the tap,” he stated regarding development. “It’s in full swing.”
Krack stated that the team believes the most effective approach for the rest of the campaign is to focus on ongoing progress, in order to further enhance the significant improvement achieved during the previous winter.

He was asked if there was any significant factor that could prioritize it, to which he replied: “The solution that guarantees success, I regret not being able to confirm that.”
“We have established a plan, specifically a development plan, which centers around the ongoing advancement of the car. We adhere to this plan and naturally, we must assess the course of action based on the circumstances.”
“Furthermore, we currently have a chance to assess our progress after completing 11 races. Remarkably, we have accumulated tenfold the number of points compared to our performance at this same juncture previously. Our team holds the third position in the championship, and naturally, the anticipation for our outcomes intensifies.”
“But it is equally important to remember your roots. While striving for progress, it is crucial to acknowledge the significant advancements we have already achieved.”
“It is crucial to take a step back and assess your accomplishments as well.”
