Reddick achieved an average lap speed of 113.689 mph during the last round of Saturday’s qualifying session. This speed was sufficient to beat Kyle Busch’s Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, which had an average lap speed of 113.636 mph. As a result, Reddick secured the pole position for Sunday’s race at Richmond Raceway in Virginia.
Reddick has achieved four victories throughout his three-plus seasons in Cup, but he has yet to take the lead in any laps on a short track. This marks his initial pole position in the 2023 season and his fifth overall in his career.
Reddick expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating that he managed to secure everything necessary to advance to the second round. Despite hitting the wall with his No. 45 Toyota in the initial round, he remains optimistic about the team’s prospects for the upcoming weekend.
Denny Hamlin, co-owner of Reddick’s 23XI Racing team, achieved the third-highest speed at 113.536 mph. Chase Elliott secured the fourth position, while Bubba Wallace, Reddick’s teammate, completed the top five.
Completing the top-10 in the starting lineup are William Byron – who was fastest in practice Saturday, Ty Gibbs, Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Martin Truex Jr.
