After experiencing a jack problem during a pit stop and receiving a penalty for exceeding the speed limit in the pitlane, the Ferrari driver crossed the finish line in seventh position. As a result, he lost a spot to George Russell.
During the race, Leclerc expressed his doubts about the timing of a strategy decision, although he minimized the apparent emotional aspect of his message.
“We are facing numerous issues with the radio,” he stated. “Furthermore, my engineer is unable to comprehend one out of every four words due to persistent radio problems occurring in three to four races.”
“I must address this issue and it is evident that I am speaking with a heightened tone in order to ensure my message is heard.”
“I simply wanted to ensure that there was no misunderstanding, and that my intention is for you to adopt an aggressive approach early on, rather than later. Therefore, it was merely a matter of clarifying due to the problems we were experiencing with our radio communication.”
He stated, “It was challenging. In certain races, we didn’t execute my desired plan precisely, but today we did. However, the slow stop significantly disadvantaged us.”

Leclerc acknowledged that his time at the Hungaroring had been challenging and exasperating, adding to his string of unsatisfying races.
“I must say, the pitstop was rather sluggish,” he stated. “Additionally, we incurred a five-second penalty for exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane. Therefore, it seems that we are facing another challenging weekend.”
To be honest, it’s quite frustrating in general. I had a strong sense of accomplishment today as a driver, but it seems like no one really acknowledges it when you’re performing well with a car you’re comfortable with.
“When you are performing poorly, it becomes evident to everyone. It is indeed challenging, but ultimately, it is a normal aspect of the situation. The responsibility now lies with us to follow in McLaren’s footsteps and make progress. Currently, we find ourselves at a disadvantage, as has been evident in the past three weekends.”
“There is a significant amount of work that needs to be done once more. To be honest, I believe that today’s outcome is far more unfavorable than it initially seemed. The initial portion went quite well, but the slow stop hindered our progress and left us at a disadvantage, trailing behind Lance Stroll.”
“I exerted significant effort to gain momentum, and subsequently, Carlos [Sainz] joined us causing a slight delay. However, during the third phase, I once again pushed hard and the car felt satisfactory.”
“I believe the outcome appears more negative than it truly is. However, it is evident that in comparison to Lando [Norris], we are still lagging behind.”
Leclerc stated that the previous weakness of tire degradation did not occur again this season.
He mentioned that given the amount of effort we exerted, he believes it wasn’t as terrible as it may seem. However, he prefers not to elaborate further on the matter. This is because, truthfully, when you’re inside the car, you can only rely on your own perspective.
“I noticed that when Lewis Hamilton was leading in the initial phase, it seemed like we were effectively handling the tires. In the third phase with Oscar Piastri, it felt like I was successfully managing the tires.”
“I am unsure of the activities of the remaining three individuals at the forefront. Therefore, I will need to investigate and verify their actions.”
