Can you provide a summary of the events that took place during the first qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix?
Valtteri Bottas established an initial lead for Alfa Romeo using the hard tires during a series of laps, recording a time of 1m18.775s. However, both Red Bull cars were close behind, with Verstappen surpassing Bottas with a time of 1m18.658s. Later on, Sergio Perez from Red Bull and Zhou Guanyu from Alfa Romeo took turns leading the pack, with Zhou maintaining the top position until the end with a time of 1m18.143s.
At the conclusion, when nearly all cars were on the track, there was a chaotic situation due to drivers trying to find an opening. Unfortunately, Alex Albon (representing Williams), Yuki Tsunoda (from AlphaTauri), surprisingly George Russell (representing Mercedes, who encountered traffic in sector three), Kevin Magnussen (from Haas), and Logan Sargeant (representing Williams) were unable to advance past the initial obstacle.
In the first qualifying session of the Hungarian GP, Zhou achieved the fastest time, surpassing Verstappen.

Verstappen established the initial pace on medium tires with a time of 1m17.296s. However, his lap was invalidated due to exceeding track limits at Turn 5. This allowed Norris to reclaim first place with a time of 1m17.328s. Verstappen made an early appearance for his final attempt but only achieved a time of 1m17.547s as a baseline lap. Hamilton surpassed this time to secure second place.
Carlos Sainz from Ferrari was eliminated at this stage, narrowly missing out by a mere 0.002 seconds to Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin. Other drivers who were knocked out include Esteban Ocon from Alpine, Daniel Ricciardo from AlphaTauri, Lance Stroll from Aston Martin, and Pierre Gasly from Alpine (although Gasly’s fastest time was invalidated due to track limits, he wouldn’t have advanced regardless).
In the Q2 session of the Hungarian GP, Norris achieved the fastest time, surpassing Hamilton.
