Elliott, who is 27 years old, will be participating in his initial Xfinity (NXS) race of the year on July 22nd at Pocono.
He will be driving the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) Chevrolet with sponsorship from HendrickCars.com.
The entry for part-time participation has already competed in several races this year. Initially, William Byron secured second place at COTA, followed by Kyle Larson finishing third at Sonoma.

Elliott, who was once a champion in the Xfinity Series in 2014 while racing for JR Motorsports affiliated with Hendrick, has not participated in an NXS race for almost two years. To be precise, his most recent race on an oval track in an Xfinity car took place in February 2019 at Daytona.
In 82 Xfinity races, he has achieved five victories, 34 finishes within the top five, and 66 finishes within the top ten.
Last year, Elliott emerged as the winner at Pocono Raceway, claiming victory when the initial first and second-place finishers were disqualified.
Hendrick intends to participate in five races this year with the No. 17 car. Following Elliott, Alex Bowman will take the wheel at Watkins Glen, and Larson will drive at Darlington.
HMS has achieved 26 victories in the NXS, but their last win dates back to 2009. They decided not to participate in Xfinity-level races from 2010 to 2021, but recently altered their approach and have competed in a few races during the last two years.
